Biography

Born in France, Claire Bibaud takes inspiration from the memories of her childhood region of Charente-Maritime. It was here she first began painting landscapes as a young girl, which has led to a lifelong fascination with the subjects of nature and open spaces.

Reconstructing her experiences onto canvas, she uses palette knives to apply richly textured layers of thick oil paint in vibrant colours, creating depth and injecting each composition with a hyper-real vitality.

Claire began her formal training at Atelier de Sevres in Paris before relocating to London where she undertook an Art Foundation course at Camberwell College of Art followed by a BA at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. She now lives and works in London.
